DOUGLAS A. HILL, M.D., C.C.F.P.

 

Dr. Hill has been assessing and treating venous disease since 1989. He is an executive member of the Canadian Society of Phlebology, a Fellow of the American College of Phlebology and a member of the American Venous Forum . His work is frequently presented at national and international conferences on phlebology. Dr. Hill was one of the first physicians in Canada to use ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy and other doctors have sought out his expertise in this area . In 2002, Dr. Hill introduced endovenous laser therapy to Canada . He trains other physicians in this technique.

 

Dr. Hill received his B.A. (Honours) from the University of Guelph in 1975 and his M.S.W. from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1978. He obtained his M.D. from the University of Calgary in 1986. From 1986 to 1988, he trained in the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Calgary General Hospital and achieved his certification in family medicine in 1988. He completed his training in phlebology in 1989. Dr. Hill remains dedicated to keeping abreast of the latest advances in varicose vein treatment. In addition, he is a qualified acupuncturist and is interested in cosmetic medicine.

 

Dr. Hill is married with four children. Interests include cycling, roller-blading, hiking, fishing and travel.
