Dr. Douglas Hill, MD,FAVLS, DABVLM
Dr. Douglas Hill has been assessing and treating venous disease since 1989. He is Vice President, Education of the Canadian Society of Phlebology, Past President of the Canadian Society of Phlebology, a Fellow member of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, and a member of the American Venous Forum. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.
His work is frequently presented at national and international conferences on phlebology. He was one of Canada's first physicians to use ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, and other doctors frequently seek out his expertise in this area.
In 2002, Dr. Douglas Hill introduced endovenous laser therapy to Canada. He instructs other physicians in this technique, and his clinic is a teaching centre for endovenous laser training. Dr. Hill is the medical director at the Vein Treatment Centre, which is a Non-Hospital Surgical Centre accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Dr. Hill received his B.A. (Honours) from the University of Guelph in 1975 and his M.S.W. from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1978. He obtained his M.D. from the University of Calgary in 1986. From 1986 to 1988, he trained in the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Calgary General Hospital and achieved his certification in family medicine in 1988. He completed his training in phlebology in 1989 and has devoted his medical practice to phlebology and cosmetic medicine.
Dr. Douglas Hill is dedicated to bringing the latest advances in varicose vein treatment and aesthetic medicine to Alberta.
